Poker Hand Ranks
A complete guide to poker hand ranks is available elsewhere on our site, but here is a list for easy reference, beginning with the highest rank and moving to the lowest.
- A Royal Flush is the best possible hand rank in poker with a Ten, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace in the same suit.
- A Straight Flush features five cards of the same suit in sequential order. (Example: Two, Three, Four, Five, and Six of Diamonds.)
- Four of a kind has any four cards that are numerically matched. (Example: four 8s.)
- A Full house has a three of a kind and a pair in the same hand. (Example: three Tens and two Aces.)
- A flush hand features five cards of the same suit, such as Ten, Ace, Three, Four, and Seven of Hearts.
- A straight consists of five cards of any suit in sequential order. (Example: Ace, Two, Three, Four, Five.)
- Three of a kind refers to three numerically matching cards in any suit.
- Two pair features two different pairs in the same hand.
- A pair is any two cards with the same numeric value.
- The high card is the highest-rank card in your hand.
Taking the time to learn the basic poker hands before playing can benefit you greatly. In online poker, game play can move very swiftly.
